Cork City Council has offered free mattress disposal. This offer was allowed on September 12, 2019 between 8am and 4pm, according to echolive.ie
The unwanted mattresses were accepted for free for one day in Cork
City Hall said the amnesty is for domestic purposes only and no commercial customers can avail of the offer. The illegal dumping of unwanted mattresses was highlighted recently when a video went viral on the internet showing a man confronting a person dumping an old mattress in a bog.
And there was a limit of three mattresses per vehicle allowed to be disposed of. To dispose of unwanted mattresses free of charge they had to be clean and dry. Collection were available at the civic amenity Site on the Kinsale Road in Cork.

Mattresses are normally charged €15 for a single and €20 for a double.
